The 10 Truths of Life … Plus 1

There are ten truths in life.  Plus one.

A lifetime has been devoted to accumulating these truths.  During five plus decades, countless hours, days, weeks, and years have been devoted to learning, accepting, denying, or managing each if these truths.  John Locke[1] wrote of truth, “It is one thing to show a man that he is in error, and another to put him in possession of truth.”  If the notion truth wills out[2], the following will help guide and form a righteous and fulfilling life.

  1. Live passionately.
  2. Bullying is a life sentence; lethal injection is more just.
  3. End of the day, it will be your family standing by your side.
  4. It’s all in the DNA.
  5. Know who you are.
  6. Pay it forward.
  7. Be comfortable with Moore’s Law.
  8. Your internal GPS should begin with where you have been before searching for a destination.
  9. There is a constant struggle with our primary vice; and everyone has one.
  10. Strive for completeness.
  11. Always have one extra thought to grow on!
Each of these thoughts requires additional introspection; each is complex in its own right.  For some, life is a complex mathematical equation and for others a great masterpiece or musical score.  Striving for both embodies the internal conflict of day-to-day existence.  When the struggle becomes overwhelming, our reliance on vices overrides any sensibility we have.
That’s okay.
Overcoming the vice, winning the struggle, reaching Truth #11 is what its all about.
